A few years ago, the boys and I went to Kmart for presents for Kirsten. We ended up getting five flashlights for her birthay. (ok, we all thought it was funny) But ever since then we decided that the best way for the birthday person to get things they want and need is for them to help pick them out.
So instead of the usual routine of buying gifts and wrapping them up. We all go together to the store and each person gets to, in turn, search the store with the birthday person and together they chose a present.
So far it has worked out really well, and this time Kirsten chose clothes, and more clothes.
This year I want a Corvette.

Chilli's
We all went to Chilli’s for Kirsten’s birthday. You can see the picture in an earlier post (by Jennifer).
It took a while for the waitress to take our order. And then it took even longer for the food to come. Now if it was just me and Jenn it wouldn’t be a big deal. But keeping 4 bouncy hungry boys occupied at small booth for an hour is a chore.
When the food finally arrived, everyone’s was great except mine. Mine was cold, I mean it might as well have been left overs straight from the fridge. Anyway, Jenn went and spoke with the manager and the meal was free. Hurray for Chilli’s!

Kirsten's Birthday - Jennifer/Mom
Well, Kirsten's Birthday was quite the adventure and took many days to celebrate!
On her actual birthday we went to Chili's. As I said in a previous post it was an interesting experience. (Still waiting for the post telling that story Chris!)
Here is the photo of that dinner

Then we went to dinner at Golden Corral on Saturday, went shopping for Birthday presents (we'll explain the Runyan family birthday traditions later too!)...

And finally home for the party!!!

Kisten blows out the candles while wearing her new clothes and the giant "cookie cake" (Dad's idea) is ready to cut! Say "Cheese!"

It was a fun birthday!

The Birthday Blog! - Jennifer/Mom
We celebrated Chris' birthday over the weekend. The kids and I made a big deal about it and cooked up quite the feast. We even had roast beast!
Later that day we went down to Englewood and lit the tree. There was a sleet storm that cleared right before Santa arrived and left a beautiful rainbow behind for a few minutes.
After the tree was lit came the fireworks show!
Then it was home for cake and ice cream for the birthday boy and company!
It's not very often that you see a Christmas tree, a rainbow, sleet, rain, hail and fireworks all in the same day...at least not all on the same day in Colorado. Very appropriate for the celebration of Chris' birthday!
All in all, a very wonderful day!
